- What does the program include?
The WeGebAU program (Further Training for Low-Skilled and Employed Older Workers in Companies) is designed for employees who lack vocational qualifications, have not been working in their trained profession, or have been unskilled in a profession for at least four years. It also targets employees who are at least 45 years old.
The Qualification Opportunities Act expanded this program by allowing companies with over 250 employees to offer subsidized further training, such as upgrading or adaptation training, to their employees in order to secure their positions.
The basic requirements for this program include maintaining an ongoing employment relationship beyond the training period and implementing the qualification measures through an external, certified training provider, such as the Learn and Speak Language Center.
You can find a summary of the available possibilities for funding here.
